About Us
How Do I Say This? was created by MFA directing student David Harris as his UCLA thesis. Winner of Digital Incubator 1.0 and 2.0 grants, the site was named Best Student Website at the 2007 SXSW Interactive Awards.
The crack team taking How Do I Say This? fearlessly into version 2.0 includes:
Loretta Ramos – Co-Creator/Executive Producer
![]()
Loretta Ramos is in the MFA producers program at UCLA, having returned to the warm cocoon of school after several years working as a publicist. She loves her television, DVR, and Atari 2600 dearly, and has mad crushes on Michael Palin (who makes the best travel shows ever), Neil Finn (who makes the best music ever), and Jim Lehrer (who hosts the best newscast ever). You can catch her trying not to look like an idiot on Fox Movie Channel’s Life After Film School.
Vanessa Rojas - Co-Creator/Director
![]()
Vanessa Rojas is currently an MFA student in the directing program at UCLA. While she hopes to one day rule all of Hollywood-land wearing a tiara with spikes (and laughing hysterically), for now she is absolutely content working on her weird experimental film school projects that make sense to no one but herself.
Dagmar Weaver-Madsen - Co-Creator/Director of Photography
![]()
A transplanted northern California native, Dagmar Weaver-Madsen is currently studying in the cinematography master’s program at UCLA and enjoys long “magic hour” walks on the beaches. She recieved her BA in communication at UCLA and thinks that the most important and interesting thing in life is how we grow and learn to communicate with one another. She spends most of her time covered in paint and papier mache or drooling over cameras and lighting equipment. She really hopes that we can make cool and interesting films that may actually change people’s lives.
Alex DeMille - Editor
![]()
Alex DeMille is in the MFA Directing program at UCLA. He loves watching films, making films, and complaining about making films. Originally hailing from New York, DeMille came out west for the smiles, the sunshine, and a crack at turning his artistic expression into serious cash.
Andy Hentz - Composer
![]()
Andy Hentz makes music for stage, screen and the mighty Interweb by strumming rusty banjos, pounding homemade metallaphones, and coaxing dulcet tones from a reluctant PC. He is currently working on an album comprised entirely of surreptitiously recorded found-sound performances within Home Depot. http://andy.modernthings.net
Danny Langa - Supervising Sound Editor
![]()
Unlike most people in Los Angeles, Danny was born right here in the incredibly sunny San Fernando Valley. He looks forward to selecting a beautiful body at the age of 18, drinking a cup of instant smile, and finding a woman who appreciates obscure Twilight Zone references. Aside from sarcasm, his passions include sound, music, and a healthy combination of the two. One day a person will develop the ability to see through his ears and Danny feels that this will be funny to watch.
Jesus Martinez - Producer
![]()
Jesus Martinez is an MFA student in the producers program at UCLA. When not second-guessing all of his major life decisions, he can usually be found in his room/office working on a wide range of film projects…two to be exact! He is excessively proud of his sweet home Chicago, but is severely depressed by the White Sox’s TERRIBLE 2007 season!
Jocelyn Szabo - Producer
![]()
Jocelyn Szabo is currently an MFA student in UCLA’s Producers Program. Jocelyn worked in New York City at Nick Jr.’s Blue’s Clues as well as at TVLand and Nick@Nite before moving out to sunny California. Through her company, Wildfire Productions, which she runs with her sister, Christiane Szabo, Jocelyn has produced two full-length Off Broadway plays, a weekend of one-acts, several readings, and Christiane’s debut album, Saltwater. Jocelyn hopes to continue producing intelligent, meaningful, and thought provoking works of art in various mediums.
